Durham University and Reuters offer a nine-month fellowship for an exceptional early-career journalist to undertake an investigative project from inside a Reuters newsroom in London, New York, Sydney or Toronto, mentored by senior Reuters editors with access to Durham’s academics and research resources.

Eligibility

  • Qualified applicants should have between two and five years’ professional journalism experience.
  • Where a prospective applicant is not currently a journalist but has worked in an investigative reporting capacity in a related professional field (for example, working as an author or researcher on authoritative investigative work; or developing in-field photo- or video-research projects, documentaries, or exhibitions) applications may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • The fellowship is a global opportunity, and applications are welcomed from all eligible candidates regardless of their current location.
  • Applications are encouraged from members of groups which are under-represented in journalism.
  • The city of placement is at the discretion of the Fellowship Committee, and the successful candidate will need to meet applicable immigration requirements.
