The Free Press Unlimited and the National Postcode Lottery is accepting applications to support foreign journalism (for the Dutch-speaking region) with the Postcode Lottery Fund for Journalists. The fund focuses on enabling foreign reporting projects that go beyond local relevance, target a broad audience, and demonstrate strong journalistic value through well-developed and challenging pitches.

•  Less and less money is available for foreign reporting. Yet, information about foreign countries is crucial for a good understanding of global developments. Therefore, the Postcode Lottery Fund for Journalists makes funds available for travel and accommodation costs for professional journalists who wish to produce foreign reports but have been unable to raise sufficient resources to do so.
• Free Press Unlimited manages this fund.
• The Postcode Lottery Fund for Journalists, managed by Free Press Unlimited, offers grants of up to €4,000 to cover travel and accommodation expenses for overseas reporting projects.

Eligibility

Applicants must meet specific eligibility criteria to qualify for this opportunity:

• You must be professional journalists who have published articles, taken photographs, or produced broadcasts in Dutch within the past year.
• You are traveling abroad for your production and this trip has not yet taken place;
• The production for which you are requesting funding transcends the local level and is aimed at a broad audience;
• The employer/client is willing to bear a portion of the costs (e.g. fees) proportionate to the total costs;
• You have not previously received money from the Postcode Lottery Fund for Journalists in the past calendar year;
• You mention any other subsidies (applications) for the same production;
• You must submit a complete application. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.
