The Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism (PCIJ), through the Journalists Against Corruption (JAC) network, is inviting journalists in the Philippines to apply for reporting grants on human trafficking as well as online scam operations. Selected grantees will also be provided up to Php 25,000 to support reporting costs and the development of their stories. They will also receive editorial mentorship and coordination support throughout the reporting and writing process.

Thematics

  • PCIJ is looking for in-depth, public interest stories that investigate recruitment, exploitation, and human trafficking, including forced criminal activity linked to scam centers, and the systems that enable them.
  • PCIJ and JAC are also open to innovative or non-traditional storytelling formats, including but not limited to multimedia packages, data-driven projects, podcasts, or other experimental formats, subject to editorial approval.
  • They also encourage proposals that spotlight underreported communities, survivor experiences, and accountability gaps across different forms of human trafficking, including but not limited to those tied to online scam centers.

Grant support:

Php 50,000: Text story with video explainer (up to 3 minutes long)
