Investigative Climate Journalism Training

Netzwerk Klimajournalismus Österreich is offering the two-day training program in Vienna to 20 journalists from across Europe. The training “Follow the Carbon, the Money and the Data,” aims to strengthen investigative climate reporting.

What the training offers

• It equips participants with core skills to uncover the forces driving the climate crisis.
• Participants will learn to track emissions across borders, follow financial flows, decode corporate climate claims, navigate FOI laws, and analyse lobbying influence on EU climate policy.
• Opportunity to work with geodata, satellite imagery and flight tracking tools.
• Sessions led by experienced investigative journalists and climate experts.
• Strong focus on practical methods and real case studies.
• Travel and accommodation coverage.

Requirements

The training is open to professional journalists from Europe, whether they already cover climate topics or hope to integrate climate investigations into their beat.
