The Chief of Staff (CoS) is a strategic partner and trusted advisor to the CEO, ensuring alignment, coordination, and execution of organizational priorities. Working closely with the Executive Assistant to the CEO, the CoS supports the CEO’s leadership of ISOC’s mission, streamlines communication flows, strengthens cross-team collaboration, and manages key strategic initiatives.
The CoS plays a central role in connecting the CEO with the Executive Leadership Team, staff, and external stakeholders, while also supporting the CEO’s external engagement with governments, industry, and multistakeholder partners. Success in this role requires a strong network across the Internet ecosystem and the ability to operate with discretion, insight, and strategic vision.
Responsibilities
- Anticipate needs and prepare the CEO for high-level internal and external engagements.
- Develop and manage a system for evaluating CEO meeting and engagement requests aligned with ISOC objectives.
- Establish and maintain processes for preparing speeches, talking points, and external communications, ensuring cross-team input and approval.
- Executive Leadership Team (ELT) Administration
- Oversee agenda-setting for ELT and All Staff meetings to ensure strategic, efficient, and impactful discussions.
- Coordinate briefing materials, presentations, and documentation for ELT meetings.
- Support communication, alignment, and organization-wide implementation of ELT decisions.
- Lead or support cross-organizational initiatives to ensure timely and effective execution.
- Manage information flow to and from the CEO across ISOC.
- Streamline internal processes to improve efficiency and productivity.
- Ensure effective management of the CEO’s time and strategic priorities.
- Establish processes and timelines that guarantee high-quality inputs to the CEO.
- Maintain smooth coordination between the Executive Office, ELT, staff, and external stakeholders.
- Ensure quality assurance across messaging, materials, and activities related to the CEO’s Office.
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a senior strategic, advisory, or operational role, ideally in international, nonprofit, or multistakeholder environments.
- Proven ability to manage complex, cross-functional projects and senior-level relationships.
- Strong understanding of Internet governance, policy, or digital development (preferred).
- Robust network within the Internet ecosystem.
- Exceptional communication, synthesis, and organizational skills.
- Experience working with senior leadership to solve problems, build consensus, and drive strategic initiatives.
- Diplomatic, tactful, and skilled at relationship building with stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to think strategically, anticipate needs, and connect big-picture vision with operational execution.
- Experience working across cultures and time zones in global teams.
