The Collaborative Desk Coordinator will coordinate Arena’s Collaborative Desk, provide technical support, and lead security awareness training to enable journalists to work safely and efficiently across borders. This role combines IT expertise, project coordination, and user support in a secure, open-source environment tailored for cross-border journalistic collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the Collaborative Desk infrastructure; manage the user lifecycle including onboarding, offboarding, documentation, and administrative tasks.
- Handle daily queries and requests from users and teams; provide technical guidance and troubleshooting.
- Conduct training on using the Collaborative Desk, security awareness, surveillance risks, and AI security; design and update non-technical tutorials and materials.
- Organize work packages, contribute to project strategy, planning, and documentation.
- Present and promote the project at conferences and online sessions.
Eligibility Requirements & Skills
- Experience providing IT support to users and security awareness training.
- Strong understanding of digital security concepts, strategies, and risk management.
- Familiarity with Nextcloud, Keycloak, Matrix, Signal or similar tools.
- Commitment to open-source environments and independent infrastructure.
- Knowledge of data protection and privacy principles.
- Highly organised, able to meet deadlines, and prioritise effectively.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work independently.
- Based in a European country.
- Understanding of the effects of technology on the information ecosystem and current tech policy trends.
- Experience working with journalists and media organisations.
- Knowledge of the European media landscape.
