ERC Migration and Bridging Divides Journalism Fellowship

Status: Open

Organisation: The Canada Excellence Research Chair in Migration and Integration (CERC Migration)

Deadline: 01/11/2025

Location: Toronto Metropolitan University.

The CERC Migration and Bridging Divides Journalism Fellowship invites experienced journalists to apply for a prestigious one-month residency at Toronto Metropolitan University. This opportunity allows journalists to engage with cutting-edge research on migration and integration while building connections with leading scholars and policy thinkers in Canada and beyond.

Designed for staff or freelance journalists with a strong background in covering immigration, politics, social issues, global affairs, or the economy, the fellowship offers a rare chance to step away from the newsroom and immerse oneself in a focused period of learning and exchange. During the residency, fellows will share their journalistic perspectives with researchers and explore effective ways to communicate research findings to the public. There is no expectation for participants to produce stories about TMU during or after the residency.

Eligibility

Applicants must have a minimum of five years of professional media experience and a proven track record in covering complex, internationally oriented issues.

Application Requirements
  • Applicants must submit an online application including the following materials:
  • Condensed CV (maximum four pages).
  • Cover letter (maximum two pages) outlining:
  • Motivation for applying and how the fellowship will enhance your journalistic work.
