The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) is seeking a visionary Director of Development Partnerships and Programme Delivery to spearhead efforts in mobilizing resources, forging transformative partnerships, and delivering impactful programmes that strengthen global resilience to climate challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement forward-looking funding strategies.
- Engage bilateral and multilateral donors, climate funds, foundations, and private sector partners.
- Build and sustain alliances that align with WMO’s scientific mandate and Member priorities.
- Place particular focus on Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Small Island Developing States (SIDS).
- Ensure development cooperation initiatives are results-driven, financially sustainable, and aligned with WMO’s institutional objectives.
- Drive Innovation and Private Sector Engagement
- Foster co-investment, blended finance, and public–private partnerships.
- Champion digital innovation in programme delivery.
- Advocate for investment in early warning systems, systematic observations, and capacity-building at international forums and financing platforms.
- Build a culture of excellence, accountability, and service within a multidisciplinary team.
- Contribute to WMO’s transformation into a more agile, impactful organization.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in international development, public policy, climate finance, economics, or a related field.
- At least 15 years of progressively responsible international experience, including senior roles in partnerships, programme management, or resource mobilization.
- Demonstrated success in fundraising and building strategic alliances with donors, financial institutions, and/or the private sector.
- Proven ability to oversee complex development programmes with measurable results.
Extensive leadership experience managing diverse, interdisciplinary teams and overseeing programme management and budgeting. - Results-oriented, visionary leader with expertise in resource mobilization, partnership development, and programme delivery.
- Strong knowledge of climate/development financing, results-based management, and stakeholder engagement.
- Strategic thinker with excellent collaboration and communication skills, and a passion for global impact.
