Amazon Film Grant

• Eligibility Criteria: Open to mid-career journalists and filmmakers with at least 3 years of experience. Applicants must be from or reporting in the Amazon region, including: Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, Suriname, Venezuela, and French Guiana.
  Proposals must relate to the conservation of the Amazon basin or threats to the ecosystem and local communities.
  Selected applicant will be part of the 2025 One World Media Fellowship cohort.
  Proposed film should be a short documentary of approximately 10 minutes.

• Target Region: Filmmakers and journalists from or reporting on the Amazon region, covering any of the 9 countries in the basin
• Application Language: English

Objectives

• Support impactful storytelling on conservation, sustainability, and environmental challenges in the Amazon
• Elevate underreported, character-driven stories from the region
• Promote solutions-oriented journalism and spotlight local communities
• Provide mentorship and professional support to filmmakers rooted in the region

Project Themes

• Conservation and biodiversity in the Amazon basin
• Threats to the rainforest and Indigenous or local communities
• Sustainable livelihoods, future food systems, or eco-businesses
• Scientific research, design, and innovation in environmental protection
• Wildlife protection, agriculture, and climate adaptation
• Transboundary or regional stories (including Western Andes Amazon)

Financial Support: Up to $5,000
