The Stanley Center for Peace and Security, in partnership with AAJA-Asia and the European Journalism Centre, is offering a virtual learning program for professional journalists in Asia and Europe to strengthen reporting on nuclear weapons-related issues. The program includes live online sessions in May 2025, access to expert briefings, and an opportunity to apply for an in-person workshop in Hiroshima, Japan, in August 2025.
The initiative, part of the Developing Story Project, aims to build long-term capacity in nuclear journalism and support consistent, high-quality reporting on this complex and critical topic.
Eligibility Criteria
- Professional journalists based in Asia or Europe
- Interest in or experience with reporting on global security, international affairs, or nuclear-related topics
- Willingness to participate in both online and (if selected) in-person sessions
- Open to staff and freelance journalists
Programme Benefits
- Virtual Training: Two online sessions exploring the stakes and strategies of covering nuclear weapons issues, tailored to the Asian context
- Expert Briefing: Pre-session access to a recorded background briefing by Ankit Panda (Carnegie Endowment for International Peace)
Workshop Opportunity: Eligible participants can apply for a multi-day, in-person workshop in Hiroshima, Japan (August 2025) - Networking: Connect with global experts and fellow journalists reporting on nuclear policy
