The Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development (CJID) is inviting researchers and academics to submit research proposals that explore press freedom, access to information, and freedom of expression. This call aims to address legal, digital, and economic challenges affecting independent journalism.
Objectives
Investigate press freedom restrictions and media censorship.
Examine the impact of digital surveillance and AI on journalism.
Explore economic sustainability challenges for independent media.
Address threats to journalist safety and impunity for attacks.
Eligibility Criteria
- Open to researchers, academics, and media experts.
- Proposals should focus on press freedom, media sustainability, and digital threats.
- Submissions must present a clear research question, methodology, and expected impact.
Research Focus Areas
Proposals may cover, but are not limited to:
- Impact of censorship laws and journalist rights.
- Media challenges amid political and economic tensions.
- Surveillance, cyberattacks, and AI influence.
- Sustainability of independent journalism.
- Addressing violence and legal accountability.
- Challenges in war, conflict, and humanitarian crises.
Submission Guidelines
- Research proposals must be no more than 1000 words.
- Upload proposals in MS Word format.
- Selection Process: Shortlisted applicants will be contacted via email.
