Audience-Engaged Journalism Grants

• Eligibility Criteria: The Audience-Engaged Journalism Grants targets local media outlets based in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia are eligible to apply. Applicants should be committed to audience-engaged journalism, particularly engaging underrepresented communities such as women, youth, marginalized groups, and ethnic minorities. They must have the capacity to produce investigative stories with community engagement and be willing to integrate audience participation tools and methodologies into their reporting processes.

• Target Region: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia.

Objectives

• Enhance media outlets’ ability to engage local communities in reporting.
• Strengthen democratic governance, media freedom, and transparency in the Western Balkans.
• Encourage community-driven stories to improve accountability and amplify underrepresented voices.

Project Themes

• Investigative journalism focusing on local, national, or cross-border issues.
• Incorporation of marginalized groups in storytelling (youth, women, minorities).
• Use of digital tools for audience engagement and crowdsourced information.

Financial Support:up to €5,000 per each
