European Cross-border Grants

• Eligibility Criteria:
  This call is open to European journalists and media outlets, specifically teams of journalists and/or independent media from at least two countries in Europe. At least 80% of the requested budget must go to journalists or media based in the European Union. The selected projects must involve cross-border research and focus on European topics with high news value.

Objectives:
The European Cross-Border Grants programme aims to support investigative journalism projects that encourage cross-border collaboration and address the shortage of independent journalism in Europe.They fund projects that are original, innovative, time-consuming, and highly relevant to European target groups. These projects can involve cross-border research and utilize established or innovative investigative methods.

Financial Support:
The total grant budget for 2024-2025 is €450,000, which will be distributed over two application rounds (€225,000 per call). The funds can be used for costs related to journalistic research, such as travel, translation, access to pay-databases, or research time. Fixed costs such as office expenses and production costs are not supported.

Applications must be submitted by 23 January 2025, 13:00 CET.
