The European Centre for Press and Media Freedom (ECPMF) seeks a dynamic Press & Policy Officer to amplify its mission of defending media freedom across Europe. This role combines strategic communications, policy development, and advocacy to address press freedom challenges in a rapidly evolving landscape.
Based in Leipzig, Germany, the Press & Policy Officer will promote ECPMF’s initiatives, draft impactful policy outputs, and strengthen advocacy under the Media Freedom Rapid Response (MFRR) program. This is a unique opportunity to contribute meaningfully to safeguarding journalism and free expression in Europe.
Responsibilities:
- Create and disseminate newsletters, press releases, and other outreach materials.
- Coordinate media coverage and respond to press inquiries promptly.
- Develop policy responses, advocacy outputs, and submissions to international organizations.
- Support communication for ECPMF’S events, missions, and protection initiatives.
- Maintain and update ECPMF’s online platforms.
Required Qualifications:
- Degree in social sciences, journalism, PR, or equivalent professional experience.
- At least two years in a communications role; civil society experience is an advantage.
- Proficiency in English (C1-C2); additional languages like German or Russian are a plus.
- Expertise in content management systems, mailing tools, and Google Workspace.
- Strong writing and editing skills, with a commitment to press and media freedom.
- Flexibility, creativity, and resilience in daily work.
