Internews seeks to hire a front-end software developer to implement recommendations for the open-source tools FleetDM and Wazuh that was gathered through usability testing conducted by global civil society partners. This development work will entail the creation and submission of pull requests through GitHub.

Scope of Work

As an Open-Source Software Developer, you will:

  • Review recommendations collected through usability, determine the feasibility and utility of the recommendation and determine how best to address the feedback.
  • Create pull requests based on feedback and submit to the tool team via GitHub.
  • Remain available to follow up with the tool teams as needed.
Required qualifications
  • Front-end development expertise including C++, Javascript, React, and Redux.
  • Experience writing code for open-source software.
  • Experience contributing to open-source tools and familiarity with collaboration platforms like GitHub or GitLab.
  • English written proficiency.
  • Ability to work independently, efficiently, and reliably, to a high standard and to deadline.
Preferred qualifications

Note: Candidates who do not have these preferred qualifications, but who are interested and willing to learn, are encouraged to apply.

  • Preference given to individuals with previous experience working with Wazuh, FleetDM, and osquery.
  • Preference given to individuals with previous experience working with civil society organizations.
  • Lived experience in Internet environments in which people face surveillance or other oppressive, anti-open-internet activities.
