The Christchurch Call Foundation seeks to hire a Senior Strategy Advisor who will provide quality policy analysis and advice on Christchurch Call matters.

Responsibilities

As Senior Strategy Advisor, you will be involved in:

Policy, Legal & Regulatory Understanding

  • Understand current mechanisms and levers of policy, legal frameworks, and regulation to inform decision making.
  • Work on complex policy projects and programmes, including defining the problem, managing and undertaking the analysis and engaging others to deliver high quality written and oral advice and outcomes.
  • Contribute flexibly to the broader work of the Secretariat, including through leading and contributing to policy projects as required.
  • Build the capability of the team and foster a good team culture, through peer review of policy work and by mentoring policy advisors to enhance their knowledge, skills and behaviours (drawing on the Policy Project Skills Framework).

Technical, Digital, Online Media Expertise

  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of technology, business, and policy and the interrelationship between them, providing well-informed policy advice.
  • Assess and manage risks and opportunities associated with digital and online platforms, offering expert guidance to mitigate threats and capitalise on emerging trends.
  • Actively engage with online communities, including forums, social media platforms, and digital networks, to build relationships, gather insights, and leverage collective knowledge.
  • Identify and analyse emerging trends in technology, consumer behaviour, and market dynamics to anticipate future developments and inform strategic decision-making.

Global Research and Academia

  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of global research and academic perspectives related to identified problems, enabling nuanced analysis and insightful policy development.
  • Conduct thorough investigations to uncover both established and emerging interventions from global research and academic sources, facilitating the identification of effective strategies and best practices.
  • Translate complex research findings and academic insights into actionable policy recommendations and strategies, bridging the gap between theory and practical implementation for effective decision-making.

Internal and External Collaboration

  • Support internal and external collaboration efforts, representing the Secretariat in international forums and influencing global governmental policy development.
  • Build strong relationships with global stakeholders to drive the strategic agenda for critical resilience and Christchurch Call issues.
Key attributes
  • The ability to lead complex policy projects and provide expert-level advice, drawing on a sound understanding legal frameworks, regulatory environments, and the interplay between technology, business, and policy
  • Experience in conducting global research and analysing emerging trends in technology and markets, and translating this into actionable policy recommendations
  • Expertise in assessing and managing risks related to digital and online platforms, as well as the ability to engage strategically with online communities and leverage digital networks for policy innovation.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with an ability to adapt this to a variety of audiences
  • Ability to thrive in a start-up environment and happy to be hands-on in the detail
  • Able to travel as needed
