The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) seeks an advisor for its Civil Peace Service (CPS) programme in (conflict-sensitive) media production and public relations.
Responsibilities
As CPS advisor, you will:
- Conceptualise and develop ideas for impactful and creative usage of media for non-violent conflict transformation
- Capacity building of partners and stakeholders on conflict sensitivity, media literacy and promotion of conflict-sensitive media production
- Strengthen the internal and external communication of the CPS programme
- Support to strengthen knowledge management in close cooperation with planning-monitoring and evaluation advisor
- Capacity building and support of the partner organisations in knowledge management and resource mobilisation
- Identify needs of support to CPS partner organisations with regard to external visibility, in (conflict-sensitive) media production and public relations and provide support based on their needs
- Support and initiate networking and professional exchange of partner organisations and other peace organisations in the field of dialogue and conflict-sensitive media work in Nepal
- Identify potential new partner organisations and new geographical areas in the area of conflict-sensitive media and conduct project appraisal missions together with the national peace advisor.
Qualifications
- University degree in peace and conflict studies, journalism, media, communication, social work, social science, development studies, or related field
- Expertise and practical experience in the field of media and conflict, e.g. conflict sensitive journalism/peace journalism, communications, and media literacy for conflict transformation
- Expertise and experience in resource mobilisation and knowledge management, with online media and digital communication tools and content creation
- International working experience with civil society actors, specifically in conflict transformation and peacebuilding is an asset
- Familiarity with project planning, monitoring and evaluation
- Professional experience in a (post-)conflict context is of added value
- Experience in designing, conceptualising, and facilitating trainings using innovative, creative and participatory methods
- Fluency in English and the willingness to learn Nepali; German language skills are an asset.
