WHAT TO FIX is looking for an Investigations Lead to join its small and mighty team and support its ongoing work to address the root causes of misinformation, disinformation, and online hate.
The Investigations Lead will be responsible for ensuring impactful, comprehensive, and globally diverse investigative coverage of the various harms associated with the lack of social media platforms’ ad revenue share programs oversight.
Responsibilities
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative research;
- Develop and operationalize a strategy to maximize the use and awareness of the Archive among investigative journalists, fact-checkers, OSINT researchers, creators, and civil society around the globe;
- Engage, train, and support journalists and researchers conducting investigations;
- Develop communication and training materials as needed;
- Maintain an investigations database, identify existing gaps and potential case studies/investigations;
- Coordinate with and support the ongoing work of the Executive Director and Policy Lead.
Qualifications
- Direct experience dealing with challenges to the information environment, as a journalist, researcher, activist, fact checker, or other related fields;
- Solid English writing skills, with experience producing and/or editing investigative data stories;
- Experience dealing with datasets and data analysis;
- Excellent ability to work collaboratively with, communicate, coordinate, and train others;
- Proactiveness and resourcefulness – marked by a can-do attitude and creativity.
