What role can I play in shaping international media policy?

- Example: On 22 March 2024, the Development Assistance Committee (DAC) of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) adopted the Development Cooperation Principles on Relevant and Effective Support to Media and the Information Environment. This exciting milestone follows two years of consultations among more than 200 representatives from bilateral donor agencies, implementing organisations, civil society representatives, and media development experts. How does the GFMD community support journalists in crisis and emergency?
Coordination of media support: GFMD is dedicated to supporting journalists and ensuring their safety. By becoming a member, you contribute to these efforts and stand in solidarity with journalists facing challenges worldwide.
- Example: Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, GFMD has played a crucial role in fostering collaboration and coordination among media and media support organisations. We have done this by facilitating information-sharing meetings involving a significant number of organisations and individuals working in the region. This, in turn, has provided a platform for needs assessment and coordination. Our community has also taken significant steps to advocate for the safety and sustainability of independent journalism in Ukraine through the Perugia Declaration for Ukraine and the White Paper on long-term financial support for Ukrainian media and journalists.
